Let’s face it, having a business isn’t easy, especially in these hard economic times. Not only do you have to worry about local competition, but international competition through the internet and social media sites like Facebook.
Why I know this isn’t news to you,
what are you doing today to ensure
that you will have a business tomorrow?
Chances are, you aren’t doing
everything you need to do because
you didn’t get in your business because you liked marketing, sales, or public
relations. You got into it because you
loved to do what the business is about and decided it was best to be an owner
of the business.
Then you discovered something that
every business knows: unless people know about the great products or services
that you have, you can’t help anyone!
So, like most small business owners, you jump haphazardly into the
process I like to call “Blindfold Whack-a-Mole Advertising.”
Chances are you have played
whack-a-mole and know what a challenge it is to actually get the moles that pop
up; now, imagine playing the game with a blindfold. Sure you may get lucky every now and again,
but most of your effort is wasted because you can’t see the game and can’t even
map out a plan to nail the moles.
The same happens with many small
business owners. (I am not talking about you and your business, of
course). They allow themselves to be approached
by sales people whose sole mission is to get you to use their services to
market your business, whether it makes sense or not for your type of business.
Without having a plan or someone to help, the small business owner often says, “Well, it’s better than nothing. At least I am doing something.” When you hear that, think of Blinfold Whack-a-Mole. Swinging when you have a good chance of hitting the mole makes sense. And if you know that each time you swing it costs you money, you might consider whether you want to swing.
Well, we can help you become more efficient and effective so you can spend your time doing what you like to do best as opposed to doing what you like to do least.
